Your BMI will be calculated by taking into account your age, weight, and height. There are various categories that people should belong to according to their age. However, there has been some debate on the calculation as it does not take into account the weight of one’s bones.
What to do if you are underweight?
If you find that you are underweight and want to gain some healthy weight, you must make a few changes to your way of life. These include the way you eat and what you eat, and the exercise program that you follow.
The Food you eat
Many people nowadays tend to go for food that is, easy, tasty and less costly. However, what they do not realize is that many of the foods they consume do not contain adequate quantities of nutrients. To overcome this one must endeavor to eat healthy and balanced meals that are preferably cooked at home. Do not settle for fast food or fried food.
Exercise
The exercise routine you follow must suit your body. Not all routines will match everyone. You should speak with your physical fitness coach to try and find a routine that will allow you to gain good muscle mass.
Always eat good food that should include fruits, vegetables, and lean meat. Non-fat dairy products are also very helpful as they contain proteins and calcium that can help you to gain weight.
You should never confuse weight gain with getting fat as they are two totally different things and if a person is fat, they need to get rid of it as it can cause issues with their health. Gaining weight must be performed under the supervision of a qualified medical professional, and no one should attempt to do it themselves unless they are qualified to do so.
Plenty of rest must also be taken as the body will need time to heal from a strenuous workout. Above all do not waiver from your goal and once you reached your ideal weight strive to maintain it always.
