Everyone wants to be a celebrity or, at least, look like a celebrity, and we live in a world where it’s getting easier and easier to get famous. With the help of social media, just about anyone can find themselves in the limelight. Nowadays, there are many brands of celebrity weight loss pills. But should just ‘anyone’ be trusted to be an influential figure in society? What these celebs need to remember is the responsibility that comes with their glamorous lifestyle.
Celebrities are the most influential role models in our society, particularly when it comes to young girls, affecting how they think they should look, act, dress…everything. A particularly large concern that is having a drastic effect is the popular craze of celebrities taking celebrity weight loss pills to keep their size down.
Not only does it make their fans insecure about their weight if they struggle to stay as skinny as their adored idols, but there’s also the issue that this isn’t a natural or particularly healthy way to keep in shape. It promotes artificial chemicals over healthy eating and regular exercise. This craze is teaching impressionable young girls that it’s more important to look good than feel good and be healthy on the inside.
But Don’t They Make A Living Off Their Image?
It’s true. Most celebrities, particularly females, are amongst fierce competition to stay in the limelight. One minute, you’re everybody’s favorite, the next you’re totally forgotten about it. It’s understandable that there’s the constant pressure to hold on to their fame, and a big part of that is looking the part. To hang on to a male fan-base, women always have to look attractive. Everyone knows that sex sells. So the outfits have to stay revealing, the make-up remains caked on, and the waistline stays tiny. So, perhaps it’s a little harsh to blame celebrities for taking such drastic measures to stay in shape.
They Have A Responsibility
On the other hand, our society is slowly starting to raise more awareness for healthy living and promoting beauty in all shapes and sizes, and it’s high time some of the influential figures out took a stand. Surely no one wants to hear about a young girl starving herself, and causing serious health problems so that she can look like her favorite singer?
The truth is that it happens, and celebrities should value the effect they have on impressionable young girls. It might not be the easiest route for them, but times are changing, and whether they get respected for taking a stand or not, surely it’s more important to contribute to changing societies, than allowing this unhealthy body image to continue. We say the celebrity weight loss pills! Healthy is the new skinny!
