Advice |
 |
 |
Staff
at Caledonia Youth will advise
you on :
- How to prevent yourself
catching a sexually transmitted
infection.
- What the signs and symptoms
of a sexually transmitted
infection are (many infections
have no symptoms).
- Where to get tested for
sexually transmitted infections.
- Chlamydia Testing - We
give out postal testing kits
for chlamydia. These have
everything needed to send
a urine specimen from home
to the GUM clinic. You can
have the results sent to you
by post or e-mail or the clinic
can phone you or you can phone
them for the results. They
will sort out any treatment
and follow up.
- We also offer a chlamydia
testing service for all clients
who attend for emergency contraception.
We will take a urine sample
from you and the results will
be returned 1 - 2 weeks later.
Staff will organise treatment
if the result is positive.
The treatment for chlamydia is
normally very straightforward
and involves taking 4 antibiotic
pills at the same time. You or
anyone you are currently having
sex with will also have to be
treated and you will be encouraged
to talk to any previous sexual
partners and encourage them to
be tested.
