Confidentiality
We provide a confidential service to all our clients including those under 16.

Our confidentiality statement is..
At Caledonia Youth we offer a confidential service. This means that we do not talk about your visit to anyone outside Caledonia Youth without your permission. If you have any worries or questions about confidentiality, don't hesitate to ask us.

The only reason we would consider passing on information would be to protect you or someone else. We would always try to talk to you first.

We always encourage a young person to talk to their parents / guardian about their relationships and visit to Caledonia Youth.

At Caledonia Youth we will see any young person even those under the age of 16 years. We offer a confidential service for anyone attending our clinic.

There are certain situations when we may have to take steps to contact an individual client without their permission. This would be if we were concerned about a young person's safety. Examples include - if a young person was pregnant and didn't return for a counselling appointment; we were worried that they were coming to harm; if they had a positive chlamydia test and were unaware of the result. These situations are very rare and if you are worried please discuss with staff at Caledonia Youth.

We have counselling sessions available for any young person who needs support for any matter relating to sexual health (see section on Counselling Services).

Caledonia Youth also offers Education Sessions for young people to make sure that they are aware of issues surrounding sexual health, know how to access sexual health services and give confidence for young people to use the service. These sessions are especially aimed towards young people with special needs and also young people in residential or foster care. (See section on Education Services.)

Clinical Services
Our clinical services are -
  • Contraception.
  • Condoms.
  • Emergency contraception.
  • Pregnancy testing.
  • Abortion referral.
  • Sexual health advice.
Caledonia Youth's clinical services are provided on an open access basis. This means that during our opening hours you can walk in and be seen by a nurse. We try to make our opening hours suitable for young people.

A nurse sees each client individually and needs are assessed
. We spend as long as is needed with each client
If it is appropriate that you see one of our doctors or our counsellor we will make an appointment for you to come back. We usually have doctor's appointments available on the same day if we feel that you need to see a doctor quickly.

Our clinical services are provided in a relaxed, non threatening environment
. During consultations we will encourage you to look at ways of maintaining your safety in relation to sexual health.

We explore issues concerning access to information and advice surrounding safe sex, parental consent (with under 16's), rights and responsibilities in a sexual relationship, risk taking behaviour, negotiation skills and contraception.
