What is the purpose of an Education
Service?
The purpose of an education service
is to ensure young people are
aware of issues surrounding sexual
health, know how to access Sexual
Health Services and to give them
the confidence to use the services
in the future.
Who
delivers the Education Services?
Qualified staff, who have experience
of working with young people,
both in clinical and educational
settings, deliver these sessions.
These include:
- Nurses.
- Counsellors.
- Education Workers.
Who are the Education Services
aimed at?
If young people in general have
problems understanding sexual
matters and how to access Sexual
Health Services we know that it
must be more difficult for people
with specific needs. We believe
it is particularly important for
us to help these young people
make contact with Sexual Health
Services so they can receive appropriate
help and advice.
These would include young people:
- Attending special needs
schools.
- With emotional and behavioural
problems.
- In residential or foster
care.
- Any professionals who work
with young people.
What
do the Educational Services provide?
We respond to requests from young
people and those caring for them
in providing tailor made sexual
health education sessions to meet
the particular needs of the individual
or group.
These may take the form of:
- Informal visits to Caledonia
Youth.
- Telephone information.
- Workshops for professionals
and those working or caring
for young people.
- One to one sessions.
- Outreach educational sessions
to schools and youth groups.
- School visits to Caledonia
Youth.
- Provision of relevant resources
as required including information
packs and leaflets.
How
can you access the Education Sessions?
It is easy to access our Education
Services and you can do so in
a variety of ways
- Telephone.
- Fax.
- Letter.
- E-mail.
